OzMosaics-galleries > The location of the 10 large murals is perfect, thank you Australia Zoo! The panels are displayed to perfection, the AZ construction crew did a might, awesome job! What a beautiful focal point! People will be lingering on those stairs, a great place to take pictures of the mural panels. A mosaic gallery walk in Australia. One of the panels shows a delightful mix of Australiana and a wildlife Warrior is depicted...representing the Wildlife Warriors of the future, the children Steve loved to teach and bring up for close encounters with his beloved crocs!
OzMosaics-galleries > You will not see a mosaic mural like this anywhere else in the world. The left hand panel above has a gigantic seaweed section raised high and every nook and cranny is full of incredible sea life and mosaic embellishments. The mermaid floats on seaweed and is filled with paua shell accessories. The huge fish, sharks, crabs (thank you Mark and Shelly) are so colourful. Dr Des, you were such a wonderful assistant helping to carve many features throughout this mosaic. You are our mosaic hero. The lizards are incredible, the huge frilly at the top was made by Bunnings at Stafford and Sandy and Annie transormed it to 3-D delights. Sandy from Cairns worked magic in the grenen tree snake...impossible to list all the contributors here, but will do so in the making of the mural story and slide shows.
OzMosaics-galleries > This incredible red bird was made by children at a birthday party at OzMosaics studio. The toucan was made by Valerie in USA! So many spectactular birds are featured onthis panel, it's not a full photograph of this amazing panel. The huge red parrot, is actually emerging from the panel and if you visit the Zoo you will see it's at least 5 cm above the substrate base! The 3-D effects loan themselves to the mesh mosaic method Sandy has used for many years and keeps finding new ways of using the mesh. This mural has smalti, china, found objects, vitreous mosaic tile and Laticrete Australia were amazing in their generosity of providing the cement, waterproofing sealers and grout - and expert advice. Thank you Laticrete! thank you Mini Movers...thank you everyone who worked hard on the mosaics and behind the scenes, there were amazing stories of generosity and a wonderful time was had making the murals at OzMosaics studio.

Every contribution was appreciated and contribution came in so many ways; documenting the murals in the making, catalogues, registration of the comments sheet, records of contributors, cleaning, cooking, grouting, scrubbing, carving, soothing, calming, energizing, mentoring.....positive vibes were amazing! Thanks from the $1 contributions to the biggies, it all made it possible.....to those who made mosaics late into the nights and packeed and posted and encouraged us....we applaud you!
OzMosaics-galleries > The pathway provides an viewing spot and it looks like the changing light during the day will bring out sparkles and colour in the mosaic. The mosaic panels dare to be different and show the personality and inspiration by the mosaic makers.....rich black thinset provides a backdrop to enhance the mural motifs.
